THE MORNING OF THE WEDDING IS ONE OF MY FAVOURITE PARTS OF THE DAY TO CAPTURE, THE EXCITEMENT, EMOTION AND NERVES ARE PALPABLE.
IT IS IMPORTANT YOU KNOW THAT ALTHOUGH THOSE BEAUTIFUL "MORNING OF THE WEDDING" IMAGES YOU SEE ON INSTA AND PINTEREST ARE USUALLY CANDID SHOTS THERE IS OFTEN A LOT OF PLANNING THAT GOES IN TO MAKING THESE IMAGES "PICTURE PERFECT"
Here are some of my top tips:
All the small things
- Gather together any details you want photographing (your jewellery, perfume, shoes, accessories) and keep them to one side. I absolutely love telling the story of your day from start to finish so it is always nice to include any invites/wedding stationary you have too.
Keeping these items ready together in a box or a bag gives you one less job to think about on the morning and allows you to enjoy the all important build up.
Location, location, location
- Think ahead when you plan where you are getting ready, make sure the area you are getting ready is big enough for you all, I'm not just talking about your wedding party. Hair and make up artists bring a lot of equipment! Try to think about natural light, if possible then ask your hair and make up artists to set up close to a window.
The Dress
Bring a nice hanger for your dress, it sounds like such a small detail but after making sure you chose the perfect dress, lets make sure its captured in all it's beauty.
Declutter
- Assign the job of decluttering the area before your photographer arrives to a member of your wedding party. Bags, water bottles, coats, half-eaten food etc will spoil your aesthetic, so make sure it's out of sight.
.

Timing is key!
- This one I cannot stress enough... Get. in your dress early!! If you are picturing all those gorgeous heartfelt moments of you getting in to your dress, the first looks with your wedding party/family etc you need to allow time for these.
Curate a detailed timeline for your morning and stick to it as much as possible. Aim to be in your dress at least one hour before you need to leave.
I will be honest and say 80% of wedding prep runs over the allocated time, not only does this add stress and chaos it can also prevent your photographer from documenting key moments.

Get Personal
I'm not talking about matching pj's although I can't lie they do look cute!
Giving and receiving personal letters/gifts to your new partner on your wedding morning can make the most beautiful, emotionally charged moments.
