Jacqui & Kelvin's Colourful Barn Drift Wedding in Norfolk
Jacqui and Kelvin's wedding at Barn Drift was one of those days that just felt happy from start to finish.
Despite a slightly soggy start to the morning, nobody seemed too concerned. The weather had other plans and by later in the day the clouds had cleared, the sun was shining and guests were able to make the most of everything that makes Barn Drift such a brilliant Norfolk wedding venue.
One guest in particular deserves a special mention before we go any further though. Bramble the dog was, without question, the star of the show.
Whether greeting guests, keeping a close eye on the ceremony or generally making sure nothing exciting was happening without an invitation, Bramble was never far from the action and was loved by everyone.
The ceremony itself was relaxed, intimate and full of emotion. Kelvin was visibly nervous beforehand, which is always quite lovely to see because it reminds you just how much the moment means. As soon as Jacqui appeared though, everything seemed to settle and the two of them couldn't stop smiling at each other.
One of my favourite things about this wedding was just how much thought had gone into the details.
Not the kind of details that are there because Pinterest says they should be, but the kind that tell a story about the people involved.
The cake toppers were made by Kelvin himself. The cupcakes were baked by Jacqui's mum and family. The table names were created by Jacqui's aunt's art group over in Australia, while her mum painted the name rocks for each place setting. Every child had a little pack waiting for them at the table, complete with crochet toys handmade by Jacqui's mum. Even the toilet signs had Kelvin's creative touch.
It felt like every corner of the day had something personal attached to it, and those are always the weddings that feel the most special.
Family and friends had travelled from all over to celebrate with them, which made the speeches even more meaningful. Jacqui's dad shared stories and memories, bridesmaids Anya and Roly had everyone laughing, and in a lovely twist Jacqui took to the microphone herself. There was plenty of laughter, a few emotional moments and lots of reminders of just how loved these two are.
As the sunshine arrived, guests spilled out into the grounds of Barn Drift, drinks in hand, catching up with family and friends they hadn't seen in far too long. One of the things I love most about weddings at Barn Drift is how relaxed they feel. There's space for people to properly enjoy themselves, whether that's sitting in the sunshine, fussing over Bramble, chatting with friends or simply taking everything in.
Then came the party.
The Matt Stafford Band had the dance floor full in no time and it stayed that way for the rest of the evening. There was no persuading needed. Guests were straight up dancing, singing along and making the most of every second.
Jacqui and Kelvin's wedding wasn't about following traditions for the sake of it or creating a perfectly curated day. It was about bringing together the people they love, adding personal touches wherever they could and having a really good time.
As a wedding photographer, it's the handmade details that always get me. Not because they photograph beautifully, although they absolutely do, but because they represent hours of love from the people around you. Jacqui and Kelvin's day was full of those little touches.
Throw in some sunshine, Bramble stealing the show and a packed dance floor, and you've got a pretty perfect day if you ask me.
If you're planning a wedding at Barn Drift and looking for a photographer to capture all the big moments, the little moments and everything in between, I'd love to hear from you.
