What are Personality Portraits?
I created Personality Portraits because these are the photos I love most of my own child. As my little one is growing at the speed of light, these are the images I keep coming back to, and the ones I choose for my walls.
Not the perfectly posed ones, but the everyday, in-between moments. The familiar faces. The little expressions and mannerisms that feel so ordinary at the time, but somehow become everything later.
A lovely client once said to me,
“It never ceases to amaze me how you get the most incredible images from ordinary, everyday interactions.”
And that really stuck with me.
Sessions are short and designed to be fun for the children. There will be a little gentle prompting where it helps, but more often than not I’m chatting, engaging, and letting children be themselves. It’s in those moments that the real magic happens, the natural faces with gappy grins and expressions you recognise instantly as ‘so them’.
These are timeless black and white portraits of the versions of your children you know and love right now.
Because this stage won’t last forever.
What to expect
Personality Portrait sessions are child led, fun, and authentic.
Each session lasts 20 minutes and is designed for one child, giving them time to settle in, chat, and be themselves.
If you’re booking for two children, the session can be shared between them. *This does mean fewer images per child*
If time allows I may capture a few natural sibling frames together although this is not guaranteed.
For more than two children, two consecutive sessions will need to be booked to keep things relaxed and enjoyable for everyone.
The setup is intentionally minimal by design, a clean white backdrop, keeping the focus entirely on your child and their expressions.
All images are delivered in black and white, creating timeless portraits that feel cohesive and look incredible in print.
Your session is £150 and includes 5 digital images.
You’ll receive your online gallery within three weeks, where you can choose your favourite five images.
If you fall in love with more, additional images will be available to purchase.
You have questions....
Q: Why are the portraits in black & white?
A: Black and white keeps the focus exactly where it should be, on your child.
Without colour distracting the eye, you notice the expressions, the emotion, the tiny details that make them them. It also means the portraits feel timeless and sit beautifully in any home, now and years from now.
Q: My child is quiet / shy. Will this session work for them?
A: Absolutely. There’s no pressure to perform or “smile for the camera”. We take things gently, at their pace. I spend time chatting, giving them space, and letting them warm up naturally. Often the most beautiful moments come from those quieter interactions.
There’s no right way for a child to show up. The sessions are about documenting your child's personality exactly as it is.
Q: What ages are Personality Portraits suitable for?
A: Personality Portraits work best for children around four years and up.
These sessions are quite conversational. I’m chatting, asking questions, and giving children space to respond in their own way, That said, every child is different. If you’re unsure whether your child is ready, I’m always happy to talk it through and give honest advice.
Q: Can I order prints?
A: Absolutely. The gallery is curated with printing in mind, and you can order professional prints directly from your online gallery.

Personality Portraits are a limited portrait series, offered twice a year.
They are created this way intentionally, not to rush families through, but to allow space for connection, curiosity, and those small, in between moments that reveal who your child truly is right now.
