Lucy & Will’s Church Wedding in Stock, Essex | Marquee Reception at the Family Farm
Some wedding days are short but so sweet, and Lucy and Will’s was exactly that. The beautiful bride to be booked me after a lovely recommendation from my 2023 brides Meg and Jordan, shout out Mrs & Mrs F!
I joined L & W for a half day, meeting them at the church, and somehow we managed to cram an incredible amount of joy, emotion and fun into just a few hours. Proof that you really don’t need a long coverage window for a wedding day to feel full, relaxed and beautifully documented.
Lucy and Will chose a traditional church ceremony in Stock, surrounded by their closest people. From the moment Lucy arrived, there was that lovely mix of calm nerves and quiet excitement, the kind that makes church weddings feel extra special. Soft light, meaningful hymns, and that collective hush just before the ceremony begins… it was one of those ceremonies that felt super intimate.
Because I was with Lucy and Will for a shorter amount of time, we were intentional — but never rushed. We slipped away briefly for some couple portraits around the church, keeping things natural and unfussy so they could get back to celebrating quickly.
This is something I always say to couples: even with half‑day coverage, you can still have a rich, story‑led gallery. It’s about focusing on the moments that matter most, the emotion, the people, and the atmosphere.
After the ceremony, celebrations continued at Lucy and Will’s family farm, where a marquee reception awaited. There’s something incredibly special about weddings at home or on family land, they instantly feel personal, relaxed and full of meaning.
The marquee was warm and welcoming, with guests catching up and soaking in the day. It felt less like a formal wedding reception and more like the best kind of family gathering.
As the sun began to dip, we snuck away for a few golden hour portraits, just Lucy and Will, a little breathing space, and that soft evening light that makes everything feel calmer and more romantic.
With the open fields around the farm glowing in the background, it was the perfect moment to slow things down for five minutes and let the day sink in.
These portraits felt effortless and very them, no big posing, just gentle guidance, laughter, and that just-married ease that comes once the formalities are done.
And then came the ceilidh.... absolute chaos in the best possible way.
Fast‑paced, energetic and full of laughs, it had everyone on their feet, from seasoned dancers to those very much learning as they went. These are the moments I love photographing most: flying hair, flushed cheeks, hands held tight, and laughter you can almost hear through the images.
The dance floor energy was unreal, especially for an afternoon celebration. Lucy and Will threw themselves into it completely, setting the tone for a party that felt effortless and genuinely fun.
Lucy and Will’s wedding is such a lovely reminder that it’s not about how long your photographer is there... it’s about how your day feels.
Their few hours together held so much love, personality and joy, and it was a privilege to document it.
