Abby & James' Surprise Wedding
The Assembly House - 09.04.2022
I always feel humbled when I am chosen to capture someones wedding day, however Abby and James' big day was super special to me for so many reasons.
This lovely little family have supported me since the very start of my photography journey. I photographed their eldest son a few years back and then when their youngest son arrived I was able to capture some early memories of them navigating life as a family of four in a global pandemic.
I was over the moon when Abby asked if I would do the honour of documenting her big day. It felt even more special when she filled me in that it was going to be a surprise wedding! I was one of very few people who were lucky enough to be involved and hear all about the build up to the wedding!

The big day finally arrived...
The excitement and anticipation was palpable, some family members had travelled down the evening before and stayed overnight at the venue which meant lots of sneaking around in the morning to ensure we didn't let the cat out of the bag!
The morning was spent with family, sharing gifts and adding all the finishing touches to the ceremony decor in the Assembly Houses stunning Music Room. The couples' beautiful sons spent time between b0oth mum and dad throughout the morning and made the most of the stunning roll top bath in the bridal suite before they popped on the most adorable little page boy outfits. I think you'll agree they scrub up well!

The time came...
..for Abby to get in her dress, with the assistance of maid of honour Laura.
Father of the bride waited anxiously and emotionally to get the first glimpse of his little girl in her wedding dress. It's always a huge privilege to witness this precious moment and it's one of my favourite moments to photograph at weddings.
The bride wore a stunning, sleek, elegant gown from La Belle Angele that suited her and in fact the whole theme of the day to a tee!
Guests began to arrive and to their surprise they were greeted with a sign welcoming them to Abby and James' Wedding.
It was touch and go as to whether the littlest page boy would be up to walking down the aisle but luckily after some snuggles with nanny he was settled and able to walk down the aisle with his big brother who had the proudest grin as he made his way to greet daddy at the alter!

After the ceremony was done and dusted the couple opted to do away with formal speeches and instead James thanked their guests for coming and paid an emotional tribute to dearly missed family members no longer with us.
I was then able to whisk the newlyweds away for a short while, I always recommend this as it gives the couple a chance to soak up the moment alone (well apart from little old me third-wheeling!)
You can see from the images how happy and in love this gorgeous pair are and the relief that they had pulled off the surprise wedding they had put so much work in to planning!
I'm a huge advocate of doing your wedding your way and that is exactly what these two did!
Congratulations again Mr & Mrs H!
